Dataslayer is a Google Sheets add-on. To open the sidebar, follow these steps:

Go to Extensions

Go to Dataslayer sub-menu

Click on "Launch Sidebar"

How do we count API calls in Data Studio?

An API call is every time the connector needs to call the data sources API for information.

In Data Studio this occurs every time you add or change a dashboard with new metrics, dimensions, controls… Equally, when you refresh it, it will count 1 API call for each graph, control or data table you have. Also, if you share the dashboard with your clients, every time they refresh the data or change an option in a control, it will consume API calls.

How to report an issue with a query in Google Sheets?

There are two ways to report an issue with one of your queries. In both of them you must do it from our Google Sheets extension.

Let's see how:

| 1. Click the "Tools" button at the top and then click the option “Report an issue with a query”. A pop-up window will open where you can explain the problem you are having with your query.

You have to make sure that your query parameters are loaded in the add-on (metrics and dimensions in rows and columns), because if not, we cannot see the query parameters and we cannot find the issue.

| 2. This way is easier, you only have to click on one cell in the data table to bring up the pop-up menu in the extension. Then click on “Report this query”. A pop-up window will open where you can explain the problem you are having with your query.

The support team will receive all the parameters of your query (we won't receive your account data, we only need the parameters to be able to replicate your issue and solve it asap), and in less than 24 hours we will send you a response with the solution of your issue.

What is an API call?

We wanted to base our pricing on usage instead of number of users, data sources or accounts. And the way to measure the usage of the tool is by API calls, that is why our plans are limited by the daily API calls done. But, what is an API call?

API calls in Google Sheets

An API call is everytime our add-on needs to “call” the data source chosen (Facebook, Google Analytics, Criteo…) to bring data into your spreadsheet. Therefore, everytime you make a query or refresh it, you are consuming 1 API call, no matter how many accounts, metrics or dimensions you have selected.

For example, if you have a spreadsheet with 3 queries of different data sources like Facebook, Google Ads and Instagram and it is set up to automatically refresh twice a day, it will make 6 API calls daily.
